Ford 6.2 L Boss
The Ford Boss engine is a true modern hidden gem, as it’s been overlooked for decades. Found in gen I Raptors and 2011-2022 trucks, these engines were designed to make torque and take abuse. From the stout iron block with six-bolt mains and 1/2in head studs, to the robust valvetrain and hemi-heads, the horsepower potential is massive. The biggest limitation with swapping these engines has been the lack of aftermarket and performance support, but that has recently changed.
We partnered directly with KPProformance to develop plug-and-play solutions to run these engines in swap applications on all of our supported ecu platforms, including Holley EFI, Haltech, FuelTech and more.
While these engines have VCT, its primary intent was for low-end torque in heavy towing. Especially when swapped into a lightweight hot rod, locking out the cams yields no noticeable effects. If retaining VCT for advanced tuning options is desired, a more capable ecu such as Haltech or Emtron is required. Holley and FuelTech fit the bill for applications where the cams are locked out.
